Who We Are

Established in 1987, NAPPA is a leading educational association dedicated exclusively to attorneys
working directly for or serving public pension plans. NAPPA’s governing board is composed solely of
members.

                                               What We Offer

Educational and Networking Events

NAPPA hosts two educational events each year. These are great opportunities to attend sessions
highly relevant to public pensions and to network with peers. You must be a member to attend.

  • Winter Seminar: Held in February, the Winter Seminar devotes a half-day each to
Investments, Fiduciary and Plan Governance, Benefits, and Tax topics. General interest
topics are covered on the final morning of the program.

  • Legal Education Conference (LEC): Held each June, the LEC is an invaluable opportunity to
learn more about the law and legal issues affecting public sector plans on a wide range of
topics, including two hours devoted to legal ethics, and two hours focused on new member
education. The Conference runs Tuesday to Friday, ending on a strong note with updates on
pension-related litigation and Federal legislative activities. As an added benefit of
membership, application for CLE accreditation of this program is administered by NAPPA.

Newsletter

The NAPPA Report is a semi-annual newsletter written by our members and their colleagues. I
published each April and October, it contains articles relevant to those serving public pension
plans.

Membership Directory, E-List, and Website

In addition to targeted continuing legal education, networking is one of the most valuable benefits
we offer. NAPPA members have access to the membership directory, e-list, and other resources
through the member-only pages of NAPPA’s website (www.nappa.org).

Opportunities to Get Involved

NAPPA is largely a member-driven organization with many opportunities to get involved. Members
can join a committee, present at a conference, deliver a webinar, or write for The NAPPA Report.
